Technology: from novelty to daily use

Technology: from novelty to daily use

These days technology is everywhere, from computers to mobile phones; even everyday objects are “smart
. But all of this wasnt the same a few years ago. I interviewed a computer technician (my dad) to find about the evolution of technology.

30 years ago, if you wanted to reach out to someone, you would either send them a postcard or call them landline. However, the introduction of mobile phones completely transformed the communication landscape. Initially, the widespread use of mobile phones created a sense of unease, as there was an expectation to answer every call. Gradually, people began to realize that they had the freedom to choose whether or not they wanted to answer incoming calls.

Slowly, people started adapting to computers, and began sending emails at home and text messages with their phones. With this video games also started to rise in popularity. However, the growth of videogames digital games came with the emergence of piracy, especially with free downloads and hacked consoles. One of the most notorious examples of this was the PlayStation, but it wasn’t the only example. Almost every brand had its vulnerable console. As a result, their companies started becoming more concerned about piracy and its impact on their products.

Cybersecurity, a very important sector in the technological world these days, is relatively recent. People weren’t conscious about the risks, because they weren’t so exposed either; but now that almost everybody has access to it, cybersecurity is essential for our safety.

Looking back at the birth and growth of technology, it's clear that we have come a long way. From landline telephones to smartphones that can perform countless tasks, our lives have been transformed. Technology is still evolving at an incredible pace, shaping our lives in ways we couldn't have imagined. It has become an essential part of our everyday life, for all the possibilities it offers.

And yet we still have a long way to go, with the growing world of AI’s. And you like it or not, they, just like computers or mobile phones, are here to stay.
